Camgrain

Storage and Processing

Founded in 1983 to increase farmer returns from combinable crops, Camgrain started with 60 farmer members and storage space for 12,000t.

Now, with ongoing support of UK and EU grants totalling up to £5.5m it has grown into the largest central storage facility in the UK with a total capacity of 250,000t over its two sites at Linton and Wilbraham. Analysis at intake allows segregation and storage of grains into individual storage silos on the basis of variety and precise quality specification to meet the increasingly discerning consumer.

Camgrain continues to grow its membership due to strong demand from local farmers and has plans with 40 farmers in Northamptonshire to build a new store near Kettering to meet both farmer demand and customer requirements in the East Midlands.

Investment in high capacity infrastructure at these stores is vital to guarantee swift uplift within 24 hours of combining of inbound grain and efficient loading and logistics on outbound grain, giving Camgrain and its members the opportunity of benefiting from very efficient supply chains from field to end customer.

Camgrain members secure significant economies of scale and the Camgrain Board is looking at further expansion to meet demand as more growers see the rewards of collaborating through central storage and professional marketing.
